Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often. (Al-Ahzab: 21)
Humans are influenced by someone whom they look up to. We tend to follow everything, from the biggest thing to the smallest detail, they think and do. That's why Islam provides a perfect figure that everyone should follow. Not only that, but if we actually learn about this figure, it is impossible not to love him and, in the end, be motivated to follow him in everything that he does.
He is Rasulullah Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.The problem is, we're no longer being taught about his life anymore. That's why we stopped following his steps and became confused about what to do and how to be a good human being. It's the direct opposite of what our pious predecessors used to do, just like 'Ali ibn Husain said:"We used to be taught about the history of the Prophet 's just as we were taught about the surahs in the Qur'an" Now, since we cannot follow him because we don't know who he is, our first step should be to trace back his life chronologically before diving deeper.
