Irelands Eye 2026: The Imprint of the Irish Landscape
The Embassy of Ireland to Indonesia, in collaboration with ISA Art and Design, presents Ireland's Eye 2026: The Imprint of the Irish Landscape, marking the fifth edition of the Ireland's Eye exhibition series. The exhibition brings together six Irish artists whose works explore the deep relationship between landscape, memory, and cultural identity in Ireland.
Spanning generationsfrom the late Tony O'Malleys lyrical abstractions to the contemporary lens-based explorations of Charlie Dineenthe exhibition reflects on how artists continue to interpret the Irish landscape as both a physical environment and a vessel of cultural memory. Through painting, printmaking, and film, the artists respond to Irelands diverse terrain: from windswept Atlantic coasts and ancient mountain landscapes to cultivated orchards and the historic urban parks of Dublin.
At the heart of the exhibition lies the idea of the "spirit of place", the belief that landscapes hold traces of the histories, myths, and lives that have unfolded within them. Geological time, ecological cycles, and human narratives intersect within these works, revealing how experience, imagination, and environment are deeply intertwined.
Many of the works presented in the exhibition were produced at Graphic Studio Dublin, Irelands leading centre for contemporary printmaking. The act of pressing an image into paper becomes a metaphor for the exhibition itselfjust as a print leaves its mark on the surface, history, culture, and nature leave their enduring imprint upon the Irish landscape.
