In celebration of Kartini Day, Goethe-Institut Bandung, in collaboration with the Institut Français Indonesia (IFI) Bandung, presents a film screening programme focusing on womens rights and their ongoing struggles. Featuring selected films from Germany and France, the programme explores themes of political participation, access to public space, and equal opportunities within society.
Through diverse cinematic narratives, the films invite audiences to reflect on the historical and contemporary challenges faced by women in claiming their rights, voices, and representation. Beyond commemoration, the programme aims to foster dialogue on the continued relevance of these issues today.
Following the screening, a discussion will be held with Gadis Prameswari and Khansa Dalilah as the speaker. The session will explore womens roles and initiatives in voicing their rights, reflecting both on the films presented and on contemporary local and global contexts.
This screening serves as a tribute to Kartinis spirither courage to think critically, to speak out, and to contribute towards a more just and inclusive society.
