About This Experience
Director: Thomas Stuber, 2018, German, 125 minutes, Drama, Color
Christian gets a new job as warehouse worker in the beverage department of a wholesaler a world far removed from the shoppers. It would be an unbearably monotonous job, were it not for his coworkers and the hope of advancement to becoming a forklift operator. And were there not Marion, who works in the confectionary department and with whom Christian is head over heels in love. When he finds out that Marion is married, his world falls apart. Bruno, the senior forklift operator and fatherly friend, can hardly help him there and then, suddenly, Bruno is gone.
The depiction of work becomes more than just a series of tasks; it is an integral part of the characters' personal stories and sense of identity. For Christian and his colleagues, the nightly routine in the vast, neon-lit store is not just a job, but a space where their sense of self, community, and belonging is shaped.
After the screening, there will be a discussion moderated by Shelvira Alyya and responded to by Reksa Anggia, with the main theme focusing on the working class in the film industry in Europe.
