During a night out, Isaac, a young soldier, tries to woo a grumpy Edith. When he playfully pulls her, she slumps limply to the floor, confirming that she has been paralysed from the waist down. Embarrassed and to avoid a scandal, he feigns infatuation and takes care of her.
