Since its debut in 2014, Formula E has become one of the worlds most prestigious electric car racing series. Unlike traditional motorsports, Formula E combines cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and thrilling street races in major cities around the globe.
Indonesia proudly joined the ranks of host nations when Jakarta held its first Jakarta E-Prix during Season 8.The inaugural race, held at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) on June 4, 2022, was won by Mitch Evans of Jaguar TCS Racing.
The following year, in Season 9, Jakarta was once again entrusted to host the race in a double-header format on June 3-4, 2023. The first race was won by Pascal Wehrlein from Porsche Formula E Team, while the second race was claimed by Maximilian Gnther from Maserati MSG Racing.
After a break in Season 10, Formula E will make its much-anticipated return to Jakarta in Season 11, on June 21, 2025. This years race will feature 11 teams and 22 world-class drivers, promising another spectacular event. More than just a race, the Jakarta E-Prix 2025 is a celebration of innovation and a driver of economic growth for the city.
FIA Formula E released data stating that the Jakarta race in June 2022 was the first Formula E race in Asia since 2019 and the most-watched domestic race in the history of the 100th championship race (Formula E) with a cumulative viewership of 27.6 million in Indonesia. A year later, it grew to 27 million fans. The passionate crowd and the distinctive challenges of the Ancol street circuit have made Jakarta one of the most eagerly anticipated destinations on the Formula E calendar.
